A strong online presence has never been more important than in this year of quarantine and restrictions on face to face interactions.

Earlier this year, Jeunesse Distributors had the valuable opportunity to learn from Diamond Director Craig Schulze as special guest on our Strive To Thrive Thursday's series.

Craig has built a solid online presence for his business and his personal brand. Craig says that the way Jeunesse was able to adapt to being fully remote within weeks of lockdown – something many huge companies have only just started to work out how to do – is testament to their ability to innovate.

1.   You should aim to take your online potential customer into an offline conversation. This is a relationship business so you have to get people on the phone or Whatsapp or a Zoom call, so you can give customers a better feeling for why they should do business with you. Get your profile set up so potential customers can see your true authentic self – serious and professional.

2.   This goes both ways. It’s important for you to also check out potential customers’ profiles and their recent posts, so you can determine if you’d like to do business with them.

3.   Understand the different social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn etc. as they all have different styles and types of content and expectations of users. Craig encourages us to master one or two platforms properly rather than being on all of them but with only average effect.

4.   You don’t always have to create fresh content. Repurpose other people’s content if it’s useful. For instance, you might say that you’ve found a particular blog or video really insightful and it explains why you do home business. This shows that you can judge other’s content wisely and pass on helpful information to others.

5.   Give value to others. It should be about educating, inspiring, and entertaining people. Repurposed content could be about educating people on the benefits of a home business. Or you could share a post from our Jeunesse Australasia Facebook page and talk about it, followed by a post about what you and your family have been doing the past few weeks. So you’re building a story.

6.   Have a content strategy. Your audience (or followers) should be able to expect a certain style of post from you. It’s also important that when you’re building your story on your social media platform, you don’t try to sell every single time. That’s not value for people. They will buy from you if they’re interested in your story. Craig ensures he mixes up the content he posts, going from repurposing Jeunesse corporate posts, to a great motivational quote, to something about his family, to talking about why he likes working from home. Then at end of the week, he might speak about Jeunesse’s promotion on our no.1 best-selling product, Reserve. Importantly, when you are doing a sales post, don’t forget the call to action. Craig will says if anyone wants to find out more to send him a private message. This is the way to build more rapport with your audience.

7.   Ask questions of your audience so people can engage with you. If someone takes the time to comment on your post, you should then take the time to thank them and respond. You’re having a conversation and it helps you double down on your engagement. Even if you notice that some people are ‘Liking’ what you’ve posted but not commenting, reach out and engage with them occasionally. Consider direct messaging them just to thank them for liking your post.

8.   Another form of engagement is in engaging with other’s content.  For instance, if you see a really good post from someone you want to connect with on why home business is working for them, reach out to them and introduce yourself and tell them how much you enjoyed the post. That way, they know who you are, they’ll see that you’re commenting and engaging with them, so they might turn around and engage with you.

9.   Leverage all the tools out there. Become familiar with platforms like Zoom and Teams and implement them into your groups, teams, trainings, and other opportunities.

10. Audience growth is everything. You need to network online to build the most appropriate audience.  A relationship takes nurturing and time, and you build that relationship through content and engagement.
